It did not take long for Intel Bloodstock’s Ash Richards to make his mark.

A Frosted filly ensured Supreme Thoroughbreds topped the Gold Sale for a second consecutive year when a daughter of True Priority realised $150,000 at Oaklands today.

Bel Esprit (Royal Academy), pensioned from stud duties last week by his custodians Widden Stud in Victoria, will always be known as the sire of one of Australia’s greatest racehorses in the unbeaten 15-time Group 1 winner Black Caviar. However, it is his emergence as a notable broodmare sire that led to Ash Richards of Intel Bloodstock striking late in the day for a filly by Frosted (Tapit), going to a sale-topping $150,000 at yesterday’s Inglis Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale.

“She was well-sourced by Intel Bloodstock; I’ve been working in conjunction with them and I’m really confident with the stuff that Ash Richards has uncovered,” the Mornington-based trainer explained.

Recognising that need to find an edge and develop “innovative bloodstock solutions”, Ash Richards has established Intel Bloodstock to partner with breeders and trainers.

Leveraging 20 years in the thoroughbred industry and with a unique approach, the focus of Intel is uncovering opportunities.

With the benefit of 20 years' experience in different aspects of the thoroughbred industry, including the past five working for Sun Stud and Widden Victoria, Ash Richards has seen an opportunity in the bloodstock agency market and has sought to meet it by establishing Intel Bloodstock.

From watching the races and reading Best Bets, Ash’s knowledge of pedigrees and specific bloodlines grew which only instilled Ash’s interest in what was then required to get horses to the racetrack.
